In 1984, Jon and Nicole met at a study abroad program in Vienna, Austria. They spent a romantic year traveling and studying. After a wedding state-side, Nicole worked as an elementary school teacher while Jon developed his sales and marketing skills at several companies.
Twenty-five years and two kids later, Jon and Nicole have combined their complimentary talents. Jonathan A. SimmsJon is a graduate of the University of Denver, and has enjoyed a successful career in the arena of Sales and Marketing, Consulting and Sales Management. With almost 10 Years of education sales experience, Jon is pleased to meet the specific needs of upstate New York Educators. Jon began his education sales career with Perfection Learning early in 2002, where he spent half his tenure in territory sales, and the other half in regional management. An opprtunity arose to build an outside salesforce with Borders Books, where Jon hired and trained a quality team of 13 reps in the greater Northeastern United States. In August of 2008, Jon opened the next chapter of his professional life, and started his own Independent Consulting and Publisher's Representation business. Vienna Woods Publishing was incorporated when Continental Press selected Jon to represent the company in upstate New York. A reunion with Perfection Learning followed soon thereafter. |
Nicole L. SimmsNicole worked 15 years as an enthusiastic elementary classroom teacher before her more recent experience as Assistant Director for Albany County Head Start. She holds a Masters degree in Literacy Education from the University of Massachusetts and has worked as a Reading Recovery teacher. As Education Program Manager at United Way of the Greater Capital Region, she developed and led seminars on early literacy/learning and child development for parents and professionals. While at Head Start, Nicole supervised teachers and coordinators and developed improved trainings of 400+ staff in various early childhood topics. In November of 2010, Nicole joined her husband at the helm of Vienna Wood Publishing. Nicole seeks to support all customers with the highest quality training and professional development to ensure that a passion for learning is nurtured in all students. Nicole's teaching and training skills and Jon's sales and management savvy result in a perfect marriage of talents! |
